Trap Shoot Glory Strikes Again

2016-trap-shootLet’s face it – the clays never stood a chance on Thursday night.

174 enthusiasts came out for a beautiful night of shooting during the 2016 UMCA Annual Trap Shoot. Participants from 16 companies, two families, and UA Local 140 gathered Thursday at the Lee Kay Center for a night of competition.

Despite a little rain during registration, members showed they were loaded for bear, and stepped up to the shooting range to take two rounds at trap shooting fame. Businesses stepped up as well, with both a record-breaking number of sponsors this year, and more than 120 door prizes available for participants. DeWalt even offered tool-swag for everyone who stopped by their booth.

Started out of a love for the sport by UMCA Immediate Past President Patrick Lynch and his family, the Annual Trap Shoot wrapped up its 11th year with Lynch’s team finishing third place. The Lynch family was well represented at the event, with Pat and son Joshua shooting, and daughter DeeDee helping everywhere from registration to distributing prizes to taking pictures.

Some teams admitted to practicing hard before this event, with even a couple teams roping in a “ringer” or two to bolster less favorable scores. Of course, when it comes to the end-of-night shoot off, every man and woman was there for him/herself.

New this year was the inclusion of two vendors, DeWalt and Milwaukee Tool, who set up booths to feature their newest products and add to the festiveness of the evening.
